Art, art, and more ART....Sneak Peek
We are really excited for this Saturday, especially after seeing the art and items that are being donated. We are blessed to be working with such awesome individuals that were willing to donated their creativity, talents, and time for NOZOMI. We want the rest of you to feel our excitement. We will have over 30 pieces to auction off, but here is a sample of the items that you will be able to bid on and WIN during the event!
Name: The Sun Always ShinesFor my father (Jan. 11, 1940 - May 16, 2011)Artist: Jason LeungMedium: AcrylicSize: 12" x 24"Description: I think the imagery is self-explanatory, but it's the story behind the story that holds the most meaning for me. My father passed away shortly after I started sketching this piece in May 2011, and I didn't think I'd ever want to finish painting it afterward. But then everyone started supporting me with love and giving me strength. That's when I realized that anything that matters should be about one thing -- being there for others. With compassion. With love. Being there to give strength to friends, family, strangers, entire nations. That's what this painting is about. That's what hope is about.

We can't thank Mayra from Monkeyhouse Toys enough for helping us out with this Artshow! Not only did she provide us with the many Artists, but she was also kind enough to donate a whole bunch of fun items from her shop to raffle off! It was a great pleasure working with Mayra! Below are a few items to get excited about...
Geisha Pillows |
Limited Edition Skateboard Decks |
Instructions to bidding on Artwork: We will be selling raffle tickets for $20 during the show. Each art piece will have an envelope in front or beside it. You may bid on any piece you like by simply adding your ticket stub into the envelope of your choice. The more tickets you add, the higher your chances are for winning that piece of art. Most pieces are valued at $100 and over, so you could easily be the winner for only $20. All proceeds made from this auction will be donated to Global Givings Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund.
Aside from the Artwork, you also have a the opportunity to get Sweets & Treats, Hearts & Things, and Arts & Crafts for the kids (or adults that are kids at heart). Also, don't forget to bring something to DRUM ON! We will have a Recycled Drum Circle where anyone can participate and jam!
It's going to be a fun day for a great Cause!

After tsunami, elderly couple rebuilds a 'small life'
This is the headline I saw just before turning off my computer. I was intrigued so decided to click and read. This story touched me and reminded me why the NOZOMI Artshow was created. I couldn't imagine this happening to my city, Long Beach. The elderly couple were one of the lucky ones to survive, yet they are still coping with the aftermath. They are the epitome of HOPE.

Recycled Drum Circle
Pacific Wind Art's very own Resident Artist, Trace Fukuhara is part of Long Beach's Recycled Drum Circle. They will be jamming out during NOZOMI Art Show and we encourage everyone of all ages to participate to create some awesome beats using recycled items. Trace is also a fan of Hip-Hop culture and suggested having a B-Boy/B-Girl and Pop-n-Lock session. Through music and dance, we can spread messages of Hope!
The video below is a feature of the sounds of the Recycled Drum Circle and our friend Lisa Hernandez from The Long Beach Depot for Creative Reuse. Thanks to her, we were able to meet Trace and coordinate this important event. With so many natural disasters affecting our world today, it is important that we live a sustainable lifestyle for our future generations; after all, we only have one Mother Earth.
